James Gagnard, President and CEO

James Gagnard, President and CEO

Jim Gagnard brings a distinguished 25-year track record of executive-management experience to the top post at SmartSignal.

Prior to joining SmartSignal, Jim was the CEO of Questra, a leading provider of device-management solutions to healthcare and production-printing equipment manufacturers. In addition, Jim was President and CEO of Diffusion, a real-time CRM applications provider to the financial services industry that was acquired by Vignette. He also served as President and CEO of Trinzic Corporation, an enterprise software and services company specializing in decision support and database connectivity that was acquired by Platinum Technology.

Jim also held senior positions with Pansophic Systems, Control Data, and IBM in Europe and the United States.

In addition to his responsibilities at SmartSignal, Jim is on the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Institute of Technology and the Board of Directors of Compliance11.

 

Robert Andrews, Vice President, Sales

Robert Andrews, Vice President, SalesBob Andrews brings 25 years of sales and marketing experience to the Vice President of Sales position at SmartSignal. Bob leads sales efforts in all industries, including power generation, mining, refineries, offshore platforms, pipelines, oil sands, aviation, and pulp & paper.

Prior to joining SmartSignal, Bob held the Vice President of Sales position at Demand Stream and Sales Director positions at Apexon and i2 Technologies. He also managed sales efforts at Oracle Corporation.

Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Decision Sciences from Miami University and an M.B.A. from Emory University.

 

David Bell, Vice President, Application Engineering

David R. Bell, Vice President, Application EngineeringDave Bell is responsible for application services and installations. Dave came to SmartSignal from Amerail, where he was Senior Vice President and CFO.  Before then, he served as Vice President, Business Development for the transit group at Morrison Knudsen Corp. He also worked for T.L. James & Co. and EDS Nuclear, Inc.

As the author of the “Hidden Cost of Downtime” white paper, Dave continues to speak on the “hidden cost” concept, the value of early warning and equipment performance improvement.

Dave earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech. He also has an M.B.A. from Harvard University.

 

Stacey Kacek, Vice President, Product Development

Stacey Kacek, Vice President, Product DevelopmentStacey Kacek is responsible for all of SmartSignal’s product development activities, including product architecture, product management, software development, quality assurance, and customer service.  Stacey spent 17 years at Motorola with positions of increasing responsibility in development engineering and product management. Most recently, she was the Director of Product Management for Motorola’s Public Safety Application Portfolio.

Stacey holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in Computer and Electrical Engineering and an Executive M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

 

Edward Tomczuk, Vice President, Finance

Ed Tomczuk, Vice President, FinanceEd Tomczuk brings 16 years of accounting and finance experience to the Vice President, Finance position at SmartSignal.

Prior to joining SmartSignal, Ed served as Corporate Controller for Apropos Technology and as Controller for Pitney Bowes docsense. He also held various financial roles at J.D. Edwards and BOC Gases.

Ed earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Governors State University, and he is a Certified Public Accountant.

 

Steven Tonissen, Vice President, Marketing

Steve Tonissen, Vice President, MarketingSteve Tonissen is responsible for all marketing activities at SmartSignal, including alliances and partner programs, product marketing, marketing communications, and lead generation. Prior to joining SmartSignal, Steve held senior marketing and sales positions with Manugistics Group, RedPrairie, State of the Art, Pansophic Systems, and Control Data.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

 

Patricia Morrissey, Manager, Human Resources

Patty Morrissey, Manager, Human ResourcesPatty Morrissey is responsible for all activities related to HR, benefits, compensation, and payroll.  She brings over 15 years of progressive experience to SmartSignal.

Before joining SmartSignal, Patty held a variety of positions in HR and benefits at Laidlaw, Dr. Pepper/7 Up Bottling Group, and Henkel Corporation.

Patty earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Northern Illinois University and an M.B.A. with Distinction from Keller Graduate School of Management.

 

James Herzog, Chief Technologist

James Herzog, Chief TechnologistJim Herzog is responsible for development of new technology and for managing SmartSignal’s intellectual property and patent portfolio. Prior to joining SmartSignal, Jim was a member of the team at Argonne National Laboratory responsible for initial development of the advanced-pattern-recognition techniques at the core of SmartSignal’s products.

Jim holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics from the University of Wisconsin, M.S. and B.S. degrees in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, and an M.S. degree in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
