Application Engineer

Application Engineer Role:
The Application Engineer will work as part of a SmartSignal project implementation team with responsibility for EPI*Center software installation and set-up, including model building, testing, and interpretation of results.  Under the guidance of process and equipment experts, either internal or external, the Application Engineer will use engineering principles to rapidly understand processes and equipment for the application of SmartSignal’s condition monitoring and failure detection technology.  The Application Engineer will assist in determining the best model configuration and set-up for each application and will monitor the performance of the EPI*Center system through the project.   The AE will be the primary customer interface regarding data collection, connectivity, and daily technical contact.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Become expert in the use of EPI*Center software to meet client application requirements
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams in the implementation of client solutions
  • Under guidance of subject matter experts, rapidly develop an understanding of client equipment and failure modes, and apply this understanding to the interpretation of EPI*Center results
  • Participate in several projects simultaneously through the entire life cycle including scope, design, testing, implementation, and training
  • Support the SmartSignal project implementation methodology including development of project schedules, tasks and maintaining project management tools as required
  • Communication of and adherence to T.E.A.M. (Teamwork, Energy, Accountability, and Mastery)

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively use a complex software application such as Matlab, Simulink, ProE, etc.
  • Energetic and self-motivated
  • Outstanding written and oral presentation skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills, self motivation, leadership, and team orientation are a must. 
  • Must have strong communications and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment while managing multiple projects.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, equipment diagrams and P&ID’s

Additional Skills:

  • Enthusiastic and has a great attitude
  • Able to communicate and collaborate well with others
  • BS in either Chemical, Mechanical, Nuclear or Industrial Engineering
  • Masters in Engineering is desired
  • Process oriented and committed to superior quality in their work
  • Must be able to travel 10-15% nationwide.
